vCISO

Security leadership, without the full time hire.

A virtual Chief Information Security Officer on retainer. We set the direction, own the program, and represent you to customers, assessors, and the board, with the experience of a seasoned practitioner and none of the ramp up.

01 / THE TIERS
Three tiers

The level of involvement your obligations call for.

01

Advisory

Security leadership on a monthly cadence for organizations with a capable team that needs direction and accountability.

  • Monthly leadership session and roadmap review
  • Standing advisory access as decisions come up
  • Annual risk review and priorities
  • Leadership briefing on request
A monthly hours commitment set in the proposal
Most clients choose this
02

Program ownership

We own the security program: the policies, the risk register, the vendors, and the evidence rhythm that keeps you ready.

  • Policies and standards kept current
  • Risk register owned and reviewed
  • Vendor and third party reviews
  • Evidence cadence and continuous monitoring oversight
  • Quarterly reporting to leadership
The program, owned end to end
03

Embedded

Near full time leadership for organizations in an active audit cycle, under several frameworks at once, or carrying real incident risk.

  • Active audit and assessment support
  • Several frameworks run as one program
  • Incident leadership and after action review
  • Customer security questionnaires and contract reviews
  • Oversight of security staff and providers
For audit years and regulated growth
02 / THE MONTH
How it runs

A calendar, not interruptions.

A vCISO engagement runs on a schedule. Each tier carries a monthly hours commitment set in the proposal, and anything beyond it is agreed before the work is done. Tooling, independent audits, and penetration testing sit outside the retainer and are scoped separately, so the invoice never surprises anyone.

A TYPICAL MONTH4 BEATS

1 · Lead

A leadership session to set direction, make decisions, and keep the roadmap honest.

2 · Run

Program work: policies, the risk register, vendor reviews, and the evidence your frameworks expect.

3 · Review

Control status, open findings, and metrics checked against the plan.

4 · Report

A short written report to leadership or the board, in plain language.

03 / WHY IT HOLDS UP
Built to be trusted

Leadership you can put in front of an assessor.

01A practitioner, not a placeholder

The person in the role has delivered engagements across CMMC, FedRAMP, and SOC 2, and still does the work.

02Independent by design

If we prepare you, we do not assess you. The separation that protects the rest of our work applies to the vCISO role too.

03Scoped and capped

Hours, deliverables, and exclusions are written down before work starts, so there are no surprise invoices.

04One record, not two

The program is organized around the standards your contracts require, so vCISO work and compliance work share the same evidence.
